Gauteng: At 12H07 Tuesday afternoon, Netcare 911 responded to a shooting at a disused mine off the R28 in Luipaardsvlei, Krugersdorp on the West Rand.
Reports indicate that various law enforcement agencies together with mine authorities held a sting operation.
A gun battle between Zama Zama’s and authorities had broken out.
An illegal minor, an adult male, was shot in the head after he pointed a gun at police.
Multiple other illegal miners had also been injured after trying to escape.
Medics assessed the patient and found that he had sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene.
