Two suspects, Khethakuthula Sithole and Nontando Ximba, appeared briefly at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court in Katlehong, east of Johannesburg, on Thursday, in connection with the murder of IFP MP Khethamabala Petros Sithole. The two men, facing multiple serious charges, have both abandoned their bail applications, meaning they will remain in custody until their next court appearance.
The murder case involving the two suspects has drawn national attention due to the political and violent nature of the crime. Khethakuthula Sithole and Nontando Ximba are accused of orchestrating a deadly attack that left Khethamabala Petros Sithole, a respected former Member of Parliament for the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), dead.

Illegal possession of ammunition
Authorities allege that on the evening of 31 May, gunmen targeted a group of IFP members gathered at the Buyafuthi hostel in Katlehong. The ambush resulted in the instant death of Sithole, while two other IFP members sustained serious injuries during the attack.

A reward of R60,000 has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the remaining two suspects believed to be involved in the attack.
