Two police officers sustained critical injuries in shoot-out

Gauteng: Late Wednesday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting near the Steve Biko hospital in Johannesburg.

Reports from the scene indicate that two police officers and as well as two suspects had been shot in an exchange of gunfire.

Multiple other suspected persons, as well as officers, were injured in the process.

The two police officers were treated on the scene by Netcare 911 Emergency Care Practitioners as well as Medics from other services.

Due to the nature of both their injuries two Netcare 911 Helicopter ambulances were activated to airlift them to specialist facilities.

Once treated all the injured were transported by various ambulance services to hospital for further treatment.
