First Lady of South Africa, Tshepo Motsepe opens up on how she met President Cyril Ramaphosa

First lady of South Africa, Tshepo Motsepe opened up about her relationship with her husband, President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa in a video shared on Twitter on Sunday 23 July.

Before meeting his current wife, President Cyril Ramaphosa was married to a woman known as Hope, whom he was with from 1978 to 1989. He then married Nomazizi Mtshotshisa from 1991 to 1993. And, it seems that the third time was a charm as after getting hitched to South African billionaire Patrice Motsepe’s sister Tshepo Motsepe, Ramaphosa finally settled.

The First Lady recently topped the Twitter trends list after she was seen and heard opening up about how she met the South African and ANC’s (African National Congress) President. Speaking casually in Afrikaans, she shared that she met Ramaphosa on a blind date that was set up by her friends.

She also shared that at the time, she was 33 years old and her friends kept hammering that she was getting old and needed to settle down. Hilariously, she opened up and said that Ramaphosa was not even her first choice, but her sixth choice as she had other options.

The First Lady is often overshadowed by her marital status and being Patrice Motsepe’s sister. The 70-year-old woman is a well-educated doctor and successful in her own right. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Briefly reported. She also holds a Master of Public Health in Maternal Child Health and Aging and obtained the qualifications from the Harvard School of Public Health.
