Train station closed for now

Train station closed for now. Commuters have been advised to find alternative transport. The station closes on Friday until 22 January. There will be no trains at Pretoria Station for 40 days.

Gauteng Metrorail spokeswoman Lillian Mofokeng said the closure was for maintenance. They will replace old signals, switches and points as part of Prasa’s modernisation effort.

“The new infrastructure will be safer, faster, smoother and a world-class service with improved travelling times.”

Joburg train crash

  • Trains from the Saulsville corridor (00), De Wildt corridor (44) and Mabopane (18) will turn around at Bosman Station.
  • Trains on the northern side will terminate at Bosman and Mears Street stations.
  • A shuttle train service (31s) will run between Mears Street and Koedoespoort Stations. Buses will ferry commuters to Bosman Station.
  • A shuttle train service (81s) will run between Pienaarspoort to Bosman through Capital Park route.
  • Joburg to Pretoria trains (06s) will turn at Centurion Station and buses will take commuters to Bosman Station.

Tickets will only be sold to commuters travelling between listed stations. Commuter Angel Kekana (46) said: “We’re happy about the modernisation programme. They’re putting in new systems.”
