DA accuses ANC of political sabotage over Tembisa protests

Ekurhuleni officials believe that the ANC is behind the Thembisa chaos.

Four people have died and property has been damaged in what started as a protest over service delivery.

Member of the mayoral committee for Community Safety Letlogonolo Moseki says it’s political sabotage.

Ekurhuleni is run by a DA-led coalition.

Meanwhile, Ekurhuleni mayor Tania Campbell says the violent riots in Thembisa are not a result of a political battle.

Campbell says she’ll be working with different stakeholders, including the office of the Gauteng premier, to resolve residents’ issues.

At the same time, Gauteng’s Cooperative Governance MEC has pinned the violence and vandalism during the Thembisa protests on criminals.

Lebogang Maile says they hijacked what was meant to be a peaceful service delivery protest.
