Telkom CEO Sipho Maseko denies claims that MTN wants to buy it

Telkom‘s CEO Sipho Maseko refuted media statements that MTN has expressed an interest in acquiring it.

He says that he is not evaluating any offer from any company. Maseko said this at the backdrop of the six months to September financial results.

Telkom’s mobile customer base has grown more than 18 percent. It now surpassed 16 million subscribers.

Profits were up by 30 percent in the period. The group’s fixed-line business however continued to shrink as customers migrate to new technologies. But Telkom says it has been able to transition from fixed line to fibre.
