Introduction
Media Film Service is a film rental facility in South Africa, which leads the way in supplying products and services to the motion picture industry.
Reporting to the General Manager.
The Systems Administrator provides technical support for the day to day operations of the organization’s ICT environment through the provision of technical support and advice to users across multiple locations, platforms and technologies.
1.Attending to the support calls in terms of Transformational and Analytical Systems
Support and assist in all business Applications of Media Film Services:
Virtual Environment: VmWare
Microsoft: SCCM, Exchange, Active Directory, Server 2012 – 2016
Additional: SAP Business One, InspHire, Quickbooks
Database: SQL, Oracle
Storage: NAS, Compellent
Desktop Environment: Windows, Linux, Office 365
Peripherals: Printers, telephones, CCTV, access control, alarm system, clocking system
Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Install and configure systems such as Asset Management applications.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
Contribute to and maintain system standards
2.Operations: Ensure compliance with backup & antivirus processes
Remediate any problem escalated efficiently
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
Provide support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
Comply with approved asset procedure
3.Provide System Administration and Application support
Provision of 1st level operational support on to all Business applications:
Providing 1st level support on other new applications
Provide 1st level support to integrated ICT systems
Analyse, Enhance and consolidate business requirements
Analyse current system processes and design functional requirements
Assist in designing Project management planning and implementation
Assist in business readiness processes to prepare the organization in implementing new systems
End-User training on process and system’s usage
4.Environment
Manage servers and networking equipment including installing, maintaining and upgrading of Linux and Microsoft Windows-based servers and desktops
Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission-critical host computer resources
Applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes
Maintain backups and perform regular testing in compliance with the backup policy
Maintain disaster recovery protocols and participate in regular testing
Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems
Quickly arrange repair for hardware in occasion of server hardware failure
Managing user accounts, resetting passwords
Identify areas for streamlining or improvement of processes, systems or networking and discuss with the Senior System Administrators
Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
5.Communication
Provides solutions in a timeous and professional manner to users for support tickets raised
Escalate support tickets that cannot be resolved timeously to a more senior member of the team, along with any relevant information or suggestions
Provide good input and detailed diagnostics when escalating to senior staff members and management
Ensures that all interactions with users, clients and vendors are professional and positive
6.Documentation
Record meaningful and detailed root cause as well as actions taken against logged calls
Ensure routine processes are documented
Ensure asset inventory is maintained
7.Information Security
Adhere to applicable information security procedures and policies as updated from time to time.
Report any information security incidents or potential information security threats to Senior Systems Administrators.
Take a proactive approach to information security
Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls

1.Ensures maintenance of IT assets are up-to-date and keep accurate record of all IT assets required to deliver services and take steps to ensure maximum reliability and availability to support the business

Education: Degree or diploma in Information Technology or any IT related qualification.
