DA deputy federal chair Natasha Mazzone said the party is pleased that Police Minister Bheki Cele assured them the issue would be investigated, particularly the presence of live ammunition on a university campus
Beyond the condemnation of police, some students are pointing the finger at the university.
Youth leaders have said if the elections had run smoothly, a life could have been saved.
The voting system, managed by an independent company, has been identified as a problem.
The SRC says voting stations opened late, while ballot papers ran out causing fears that the election was tampered with.
TUT has confirmed an external company does manage the voting process but it is yet to comment on the rigging claims.
