The eThekwini municipality is refuting claims that it spent close to R600 million for streetlights that were meant to cost R91 million.
A local publication article detailed how the city overspent on the project in just three months.
The municipality says some of the details are slanderous and factually incorrect.
The city has refused an interview regarding the matter, saying it prefers to answer once the investigation looking into the contract has concluded.
