Stranded passengers ask for more ZUPCO buses

Stranded passengers ask for more ZUPCO buses. Even the decision to allow Zupco buses to fill their seats, passengers are still spending hours waiting for transport. Commuters are appealing for more Zupco buses as demand for transport have been increasing over the past month.

Anastancia Marimbike of Mufakose yesterday said she left work early just to join a winding queue at Market Square bus terminus. “I no longer take my lunch break just to try and finish early so that I join the ZUPCO queue early.

“Today I even left work before finishing work and as for social distancing, I do not see it applicable here at the terminus. “We are appealing for more Zupco buses because they are affordable and reliable if they meet the demand.”

She added: “Fake Zupco buses are ferrying passengers to the nearest police roadblocks while others are operating only in high-density areas.”

Covid-19 frontline workers, including health workers and law enforcement agents, are not spared and they endure hours at bus termini.
