This role is for an ADC (Application Developer Controller) Engineer

Role purpose:
The main purpose of this position is to research, plan, design and deploy high-availability Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Application Delivery Controller infrastructure solutions across the network spectrum within the Company.

Role and responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
Define own work plan and deliverables with guidance from the Team Leader: Networks and prioritize delivery of own outputs against the agreed work plan.
Design, test and implement scalable, redundant and secure ADC infrastructure solutions and related technologies according to business requirements in alignment with industry best practises and standards, with a high level of focus on F5 BIG-IP and AVI Network infrastructure.
Provide escalation support on the deployed ADC infrastructure.
Provide technical ADC expertise as part of ICT infrastructure projects and participate in other departmental/divisional projects in order to contribute towards business objectives.
Identify and implement opportunities for integration, consolidation and enhancements to ensure cost-effective and optimal use of ICT resources and technology.
Create and maintain technical network topology diagrams and provide structured documentation and procedures to the Production Support Section on solution handover, where relevant.
Keep abreast of new and changing ADC architectures and technologies, and liaise with vendors for purposes of product and technology review, coordinating vendor presentations where relevant.
Provide input into the development of ADC related policies and standards in accordance with corporate governance standards
Develop and enhance disaster/business continuity procedures on deployed network infrastructure solutions and assist in exercising those procedure

Job Requirements:
To be considered for this position, candidates must have:
4 years experience as an ADC Engineer
F5 qualifications (201 and/or above) and experience
AVI Network exposure or knowledge

Certifications/skills that will be an added advantage include:
Cisco CCNA or CCNP
Infoblox Administrator
Python
Ansible
Bash Scripting
Grafana
Bamboo/Jenkins
Python and Bamboo / Jenkins skills are a PLUS as they don’t have these skills in the area

Job-related knowledge should include:
expert knowledge on the design, deployment and maintenance of F5 BIG-IP technologies and the related application, security and network integration
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
Control Objectives for IT (COBIT)

Overall Job Purpose: To ensure continued availability of the network support.

Key Accountabilities: Accountability: Provide Network Support
Diagnose and analyse the incident and identify the resolution options. This is achieved through the understanding of the bigger scope of the environment to define alternative solutions to the problem e.g. may be able to resolve and yet to restore the state.
Identify capacity and performance drivers i.e. preventative maintenance to eliminate bottlenecks in the infrastructures.
ï€ªï€ Instruct the Junior Network Engineer to resolve the capacity or performance issue i.e. determine what infrastructure to grow
Ensure continuous improvement of processes through capacity and performance management. eg. increase memory

Accountability: Articulation of an Architecture
Provide input, guidance and best practice for new designs and detailed designs for high level designs. Determine how the infrastructure will be implemented and what are the best practices to apply when implementation takes place.
ï€ªï€ From the high level design, create the detailed design and create an implementation plan e.g. identify a backup component and how this will interact with production to ensure that the backup actually works at the time of the failure. Compile the implementation plan document.
Instruct the Network Engineer on the implementation of the design i.e. what configurations to apply, what equipment and infrastructure to employ.

Accountability: Vendor Management
ï€ªï€ Manage the service level or service delivery of vendors. Refer to engagement model with vendor and determine if the vendor is performing at the required level. If the vendor is not performing, escalate to the relevant forum and Line Manager.
Participate in monthly meetings with the vendors to discuss the service delivery, future direction from the vendor and future direction from Absa.
Be involved in Business Engagement through participation in meetings with Business Units. To understand business requirements, identify problem areas the business encounters and determine the problem resolutions.

Accountability: Proof of concepts

ï€ªï€ From the new and high level designs, take a solution from vendor and test in a lab environment and score to determine which vendor comes out with the best result. Testing is done through a myriad of equipment e.g. router switches, network devices, etc. Determine which solution will suit the Absa environment best. Determine the business drivers and match the technical solution to this.
Generate a conclusion document and discuss through various architectural and design forums. Make the necessary technical recommendation to the forums (Enterprise Design Architecture Forum, etc).

Accountability: Risk management

Review, understand and implement security and compliance requirements for all network devices
Coach team members on all the processes and controls that they have to execute in their daily work and ensure that they understand the reasons for the controls and the consequences for failing to adhere to prescribed processes.
Coach team members on areas for improvement and highlight major failures to the manager of the area.
Provide evidence/supporting documents to auditors or management assurance consultants during formal reviews.
Implement and regularly test effective Business Continuity plans for all Tier 1 and 2 systems and ensure team members participate in BCM tests.
Make team members aware of all changes to policies, processes and procedures that are being planned for the area and ensure that they are able to incorporate the changes on the effective date.

Education and Experience Required
BSC computer science degree/National Information Technology Diploma or equivalent
