Health Minister Joe Phaahla said voting stations might be one-stop shops for vaccinations. According to Phaahla, the department has partnered with the Independent Electoral Commission to get more people vaccinated. Government says it hasn’t seen a spike in COVID-19 cases this election month.
Phaahla said the rate of infections has been somewhat stable over the past two weeks, with new cases and hospital admissions dropping.
More than 15 million South Africans have received at least one jab so far. Phaahla added some private businesses are now offering vouchers to incentivise more people to get the shot.
