Sizwe Dhlomo buys himself a French horse

Radio and TV personality Sizwe Dhlomo bought a second horse.

The star revealed on social media that he drove all the way from Jozi to Bloemfontein by the beautiful horse.

He wrote: “Drove to Bloem this morning to buy this horse. She’s a registered pure Percheron, two years old & already massive! She’ll turn white at around year five or six.”.

These types of horses normally sell for about R35 0 000 to R 45 000. Sizwe has another horse that he often takes for rides and has posted a couple of pictures on his social media.

Percherons originated in the 17th Century in a place called LePerche near Paris, France.

This breed was first used for raiding and war.

It eventually became popular as a draft horse, pulling stagecoaches called “diligences.”Percherons started to be shipped to the USA in the early 1800s.

After World War 2, the Percheron population decreased in the USA so that by 1954, only 500 had been recorded. The breed made a strong comeback in the 1960s in large part due to the Amish, who used them for farming.

As of 2009, the Percheron Horse Association of America had over 3000 horses registered in every state in America. Percherons can be any color and any combination of colors.

They are used primarily as draft horses and in driving classes in shows. One of the most famous uses of the Percheron is its appearance in Disneyland Paris, where 30% of the horses are this breed.
