Six members of Gauteng COVID-19 war room test positive

The Gauteng Health Department has confirmed that six people from the province’s COVID-19 war room, including the head of the department, Mkhululi Lukhele, have tested positive for the virus.

Gauteng has become the epicentre of the outbreak with more confirmed cases than any other province.

The department’s spokesperson Kwara Kekana: “The Gauteng Department of Health is continuing to improve both the infrastructure and human resources of the health system due to deal with the increasing pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We understand that the subject of death is an unfortunate matter to engage in, however, ensuring that there’s adequate burial space in the province, unfortunately, forms part of the reality government must contend with and the battle against COVID-19.
