Guard left in a critical condition after being shot in Diepsloot shopping center

Gauteng: At 06H34 Tuesday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting at a shopping Centre off Ubuntu Drive in Diepsloot West, Diepsloot.

Reports from the scene indicate that a 32-year-old male security guard had been shot in what was alleged by mb of the public to be a robbery.

Medics assessed the scene and found that the patient in a critical condition with two gunshot wounds to his lower abdomen and pelvic region.

The patient was treated on scene by Advanced Life Support paramedics who managed to stabilise him.

Due to the nature of the patients injuries, Netcare 2 a specialised helicopter ambulance was activated to airlift the patient in a critical condition to a specialist facility for the treatment he required.

Circumstances leading up to the shooting will be investigated by the relevant authorities.
