Sead Ramovic wants Galaxy to be positive against Chippa

TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic is keen to keep making progress as he looks to end the year on a positive note against Chippa United at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Ramovic recently guided the Rockets to the Carling Knockout final before succumbing to Stellenbosch on penalties, but they quickly put that disappointment behind them by beating Golden Arrows 2-0 in the DStv Premiership seven days later.

A fifth victory of the season took Galaxy within two points of the top eight in 11th position and Ramovic wants to continue moving the club forward after pointing out how much they have improved since he arrived in October 2021.

“If you compare where this club was two years ago and you see now, the way we improved, you just have to be positive,” the German said. But of course, if you don’t continue to work hard, we will go backwards. So we have to keep on going.” The Chilli Boys have endured a difficult two months after showing some promise at the start of the season in Morgan Mammila’s second spell in Gqeberha.

A 2-1 defeat at home to Polokwane City on December 23 was their third loss in five games and left the Eastern Cape outfit level on 18 points with Galaxy in 12th place. Chippa had claimed a 2-0 victory over Arrows prior to that and Mammila believes they are heading in the right direction despite recent results not going their way.

“You can see the direction of the team and where it is going,” he said. “Sometimes talk is cheap. We want to see action, and the way we are playing says we are moving in the right direction.

Samir Nurkovic: The 31-year-old Serbian striker has already made a big impact on the team following his arrival in September, scoring four goals in all competitions. He was brought off the bench in the 31st minute against Arrows and went on to open the scoring with a well-taken header to register his third goal in eight league appearances

Augustine Mulenga: The 33-year-old Zambian winger has settled in quickly at Chippa after being signed from Napsa Stars in July, starting all 15 games in the league to become an important member of the team. Mulenga’s influence grew against Polokwane as the game wore on and his surging run through the middle of the park led to Ayabulela Konqobe’s goal on 66 minutes.
