Joburg council negotiations weren’t always smooth sailing, says Phalatse

Johannesburg mayor Mpho Phalatse says mayoral negotiations weren’t always smooth sailing.
She’s confident that the City of Johannesburg is in good hands.
“It hasn’t been easy, we all came into negotiations with our wish lists, those lists were informed by various caucuses, some for same portfolios for different reasons,” Phalatse said.
“We had to do a lot of bargaining, compromising, at some point, it looked like we wouldn’t get to this point.
“I believe with this multi-party government will serve as an example to the rest of the country on what is possible under coalition government”.
