President Cyril Ramaphosa is in good spirits, according to Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele.
Ramaphosa tested positive for COVID-19.
Gungubele says the president is being treated for minor symptoms.
“The president is in good spirits, just taking the necessary precautions of isolating himself, taking the treatment for minor symptoms, and for the purpose of ensuring that he attends to himself, he then transferred his duties to the deputy president,” he said.
“He is taking some kind of treatment for minor seeming flu symptoms and the last time I spoke with the president, he was in good spirits, laughing, joking and so on and that’s it, how else could I say [it], I wouldn’t misrepresent him.”
