The Gauteng Department of Health says over 300 people in communities around Sandton, Alexandra and Houghton contracted COVID-19 on Christmas day alone.
The department revealed that the sub-district, known as region E, is currently the worst affected in Johannesburg.
Gauteng Health Spokesperson, Kwara Kekana said residents must make use of the weekly dashboard that guides them in terms of areas to avoid.
