City Power said Roodepoort residents who’d been without electricity would likely remain offline for most of the week due to what it called attempted vandalism.
The area was plunged into darkness on Tuesday after a man was electrocuted to death at the Mechanical Workshop substation.
The utility’s Isaac Mangena said repairs were ongoing on Wednesday morning.
“Customers in Florida Lake, Hamburg, Creswell Park, Georgina South, Rand Leases, Esperanza, Florida Lake Park, Vogel, and the surrounding areas will basically remain without electricity.”
