Richard Mdluli found guilty of assault and kidnapping

Former crime intelligence boss Richard Mdluli has been found guilty of assault and intimidation in a 1999 kidnapping case. Mdluli’s been acquitted on defeating the ends of justice.

The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg found Mdluli guilty of kidnapping and two counts of assault with his co-accused Mthembeni Mthunzi.

The charges include intimidation, assault and the kidnapping of Mdluli’s former girlfriend’s partner, Oupa Ramogibe.

The murder charges were withdrawn he argued that he was prejudiced in the matter. Last year, Mdluli was suspended by then police minister Fikile Mbalula.
