After months of consultations and negotiations, retrenchments are going ahead at the SABC. The number of affected staff has been reduced from 600 to 400.
The public broadcaster says there are 170 vacancies and this could see the number of staff affected by retrenchments drop to 230.
Employees whose positions are made redundant will receive a letter to this effect by next Wednesday 18 November.
Staff who remain behind will not receive annual salary increases for some time and annual sick leave days will also be cut from the current 30 days-per annum to 36-days over three years.
