Train carriages had been set alight at Retreat railway station, the City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue services confirmed on Tuesday.
Fire & Rescue spokesperson Theo Layne said: “Currently two passenger coaches were set alight.”
According to him, the train driver confirmed that she noticed the fire between stations.
Two fire engines, one water tanker, and one rescue vehicle were dispatched to the scene. No injuries have been reported.
