Airlines Association of SA slams UK red list decision

The Airlines Association of Southern Africa has slammed the UK’s red list decision.
It comes after the new Omicron variant was detected in SA, Botswana, Hong Kong, and Belgium.
The association’s Aaron Munetsi says the UK should have consulted first.
Munetsi said, “to us, it seems as if South Africa and the Southern African region is being punished because our scientists have been very transparent, We did not hide anything.”
“We worked hard to make sure this information was shared with the rest of the world.”
“We are taken aback and worries this decision was taken. What we would have expected is to say SA scientists have identified this, engage to say what does this mean? We would have expected them to consult to say does this mean we have to increase vaccinations or increase boosters”.
