Ramaphosa stuck on Metrorail Train #PresidentStuckOnATrain

ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa got a taste of what Metrorail commuters go through on most days as he found himself stuck on a train. Ramaphosa who is on an election campaign in Pretoria was stuck en route to the Bosman station in the capital city. The delay effectively meant that Ramaphosa was running late for an ANC top 6 meeting.

The president and commuters boarded the train around 7:30 am and it was still stationary at 10:15 am.

Ramaphosa who was seated next to Gauteng Premier David Makhura said drastic changes to the public transport system is needed.

“We are going to take steps to change this situation because our people deserve the best,” said a visibly frustrated Ramaphosa.

“The way people are transported is not ideal, this not how we want to see working people being transported, some of them are students and some of them are job seekers. You just really destroy their enthusiasm about getting into a public transportation system like this.

“I am glad that I came and I have seen for myself. We are going to take steps to change the situation.”

The president said they will engage the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa at the highest level.
