Over the 11 years of its existence, the Feather Awards has evolved from an event that focused solely on the Awards aspect, to including a regular programme of LGBTI advocacy programmes that take place over the year, many of them focused on vulnerable LGBTIQ youth.
Amongst them are the LGBTIQ+ Dialogues in communities across South Africa, which were initiated in partnership with the Thami Dish Foundation as a response to the prejudice, socio-economic and structural challenges faced by LGBTIQ youth in South Africa – this years dialogues focused on legal rights, health rights and diversities in sexuality education.
