Qwabe Twins are now Signed to Afrotainment

Qwabe Twins are living proof that when one door closes, another one opens! They have bagged a record deal with one of SA’s leading record labels, Afrotainment. It was reported that the twins were working with Afrotainment boss, DJ Tira, however he denied having any contracts involved. It was also later revealed by their father, Qwabe Senior, that the twins were contractually restricted to release music within six months of the competition finale and were under Gallo Entertainment music. To make matters even more challenging for the twins, if they were to be approached by a recording label, a portion of their earnings (which equates to 60%) will go to the record label and management company Think Entertainment.

Now, in a turn of events, Gallo Records publicist Kabelo Ntshole confirmed to TshisaLive that the twins had been released from the record label. Their former manager, Kim Coppen, also confirmed that the twins were released from the management company. Speaking to Daily Sun, she said: “The twins have been released from both Gallo and Think Entertainment contracts. I’ve released them without any strings attached, meaning they’re free to do whatever they want to do. I wish them all the best. Ntshole said there were no remunerations paid by Tira or the twins and that it was a straightforward release.

DJ Tira & The Qwabe Twins

The news did not come as a surprise to fans, because since their departure from Idols SA, the twins have been working closely with DJ Tira. From making stage appearances, to being cameos in his music video and finally collaborating with him on their debut single Hamba. They are not wasting time. They have released the artwork for their upcoming single ft the Thank You Mr DJ hit-maker. It will be released on Friday 29 November.
