Public Protector won’t oppose Ramaphosa’s urgent court bid

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane won’t be opposing President Cyril Ramaphosa‘s urgent court bid to suspend her remedial action against him.

Mkhwebane found Ramaphosa deliberately misled Parliament regarding a R500,000 Bosasa donation. She also found the president breached the Executive Ethics Code by not declaring donations made to his 2017 ANC presidential campaign.

Mkhwebane is reportedly not challenging the interim interdict, as Ramaphosa applied for the main case to heard on an urgent basis.

The president says her report is riddled with inaccuracies and is fundamentally flawed. He’s approached the court to set aside the entire report.
