Psychology says, 92% breakups happen due to this reason

There could be several reasons out there why breakups happen but there are some particularly common ones according to psychologists and relationship experts.

Here are some of those 5 common reasons why break ups happen and even when we know about them, acknowledgment of that situation is necessary as well.

1. Lack of intimacy
Intimacy, both physical and emotional, is very important for a romantic relationship. When couples experience a decline in physical affection or emotional intimacy, even when they have tried to work on it, it is over. The absence of intimacy can create emotional distance and erode the bond between partners, ultimately contributing to a breakup.

2. Communication
No matter how much we stress about it, people understand it only when it’s all over. Communication problems are a leading cause of breakups. When couples struggle to communicate effectively, it can lead to misunderstandings, unresolved conflicts, and emotional distance. Over time, our trust, foundation, and intimacy disintegrate and we are left with nothing in the end. These issues erode the foundation of trust and intimacy in a relationship. Poor communication can manifest in various forms, such as not expressing feelings, bottling up emotions, or having frequent arguments without resolution.

3. Trust and infidelity
Trust is the cornerstone of any healthy relationship. When it is broken, whether through infidelity or other breaches of confidence, it can be incredibly challenging to rebuild. Infidelity comes next after communication when we speak of breakup contributors. The emotional pain and betrayal experienced by the betrayed partner often lead to the dissolution of the relationship.

4. Emotional disconnect
Emotional neglect and disconnection are when one or both partners feel emotionally disconnected from each other. Over time, this can lead to feelings of loneliness, emotional dissatisfaction, and a sense that the relationship is no longer fulfilling their emotional needs. When emotional needs go unmet a breakup is inevitable.

5. Incompatibility
By compatibility, we mean values, goals, interests, and lifestyles. Over time, couples may realise that they are not well-matched in fundamental ways. These differences can become increasingly jarring and lead to feelings of dissatisfaction and unhappiness.
