President Cyril Ramaphosa appoints Kholeka Gcaleka as public protector

President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Kholeka Gcaleka as the Public Protector. This follows the recommendations of the National Assembly. Gcaleka has been appointed for a non-renewable term of seven years with effect from Wednesday.
She has been acting in the role since Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s suspension last year. Ramaphosa says he trusts Gcaleka will serve the people of South Africa with honour and dedication.
