Cape Town carries out power maintenance

Cape Town is dealing with electricity cuts in some areas.

Several suburbs may see some temporary power outages this week as technicians carry out much-needed maintenance work.

These include Constantia, Newlands, Somerset West and Kraaifontein.

Kadri Nassiep, City of Cape Town Director for Energy and Climate Change, said it’s an ideal opportunity to consider the much-needed maintenance requirements.

“We’ve targeted this period which is just before the festive season.

“This is much-needed maintenance as required on our network. It means there will be sporadic and intermittent outages in certain areas.

Nassiep adds that the City is well into the process of weaning itself off Eskom’s supply and procuring other sources of power for the grid.
