
Refugees at the Green Market Square are revolting against being removed from what has been their home for months. The City of Cape Town started removing them on Sunday after it was granted a court order over a week ago.
Police officers confiscated belongings during the removals, causing clashes with the refugees.
The refugees are being asked to pack up and vacate the pavements and streets they are currently occupying.
But refugees say they have nowhere to go.
They are now looking to the UNHCR to assist them with temporary accommodation and to facilitate their exit from South Africa.

According to the Sunday World, the terms of the protection order which was handed down at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court, are that Khama Billat’s 22-year-old baby mama cannot make any contact with him.
