Paramedics say the driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries but refused transportation to the hospital.
A pedestrian, believed to be 47 years old, was killed when he was knocked down by a vehicle on the N3 south in Mkondeni, Pietermaritzburg on Saturday afternoon, paramedics said.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 2.30pm they found the man lying in the centre median of the road, ER24 spokeswoman Ineke van Huyssteen said.
“Unfortunately, the man sustained fatal injuries and he was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries, but refused transportation to the hospital.”
The exact circumstances surrounding the accident were not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene, Van Huyssteen said.
