The Driver will work as part of the Operations team to maximise the safety and reliability of our trips for our passengers and company representatives whilst operating or within a PEAK DMC owned vehicles. The majority of those trips will be operated across Southern Africa (eg. Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Lesotho, within South Africa etc) for the Intrepid Group, including trips for PEAK brands and external clients, and in line with standards and policies laid out by the company.

QUALIFICATIONS, TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Experienced driver of passenger commercial vehicles, with a good driving record. Current licence C1 with valid PDP (acceptable to the laws of all countries the driver operates in) and any required endorsements to operate a vehicle in the PEAK DMC Fleet at any time either with or without passengers. Strong communication (verbal & written) in English and another local language.

Essential literacy and numeracy skills. In-depth knowledge of product, itineraries, destinations, and the adventure travel industry in Southern Africa. Mechanical aptitude. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, vehicle permits and cross border points within Southern Africa. 1+ years of experience working in the travel industry. Valid Work Permit for South Africa. Valid passport.

Strong knowledge of the style of travel, operating systems and trips managed by PEAK. Reliable and responsible, with good organisational and customer service skills. The ability to work in a team environment. Flexible and adaptable to handle a multitude of tasks that may be on the go at the one time. A capacity to take responsibility and make decisions independently. The ability to participate in the resolution of emergency situations that may occur.

Strong time management skills while working within timelines and speed limits. A sense of humour and a smile! Areas of Accountability: >Passenger Enjoyment: Work closely with Leaders/ Cooks and Operations department to handle passengers >Pre-Trip: Complete all required Pre-Trip requirements, inspections and paperwork, as per the PEAK Fleet Manual and Driver Manual Policy & Guidelines, including paperwork, safety equipment, spare parts and cleanliness, Report any damage or mechanical malfunctions that exist prior to trip operations.

>During the Trip: Ensure that vehicle is kept free from damage and consistently clean as per the PEAK Fleet Manual and Driver Manual Policy & Guidelines, Drive vehicles over specified routes or to specified destinations, according to time schedules and complying with traffic regulations to the safety of our staff, passengers and vehicle, Act as company ambassador when dealing with passengers. >Post-Trip: Complete local office requirement sign off sheets, trip balancing, reporting any damage, concerns or spare parts used and any paperwork related to truck operation and passenger movements. >Purpose Beyond Profit.
