Residents of Katlehong on Gauteng’s East Rand have appealed to the City of Ekurhuleni to intervene.
This as more sinkholes have opened up in the area.
Residents are now fearing for their lives.
Several families in Maphanga and Skhosana sections have already been moved.
But some have returned to their homes, fearing criminality and vandalism.
Several houses have been damaged.
The area is built on dolomitic land and there are concerns more houses could be affected.
The city says it’s aware of the issue and is working to find solutions.
