Of recent Poet Ntsiki Mazwai has been the mouth piece of women who have been sexually abused. Using her own experiences, she encourages women to come out and name and shame rapists.
One Jennifer Ferguson came out saying years ago she was raped by popular sports personality Danny Jordan. Her revelation prompted Ntsiki to take a firm stand against rapists. “We call for Danny Jordan to be removed from all national positions. RAPISTS ARE RAPIST…..NOT PEOPLE”, Ntsiki said. Although she received a lot of negative responses, Ntsiki stands firmly against this scourge affecting this country.
Jennifer said the #metoo campaign on social media has affected her deeply. She said Danny raped her one night in a PE Hotel room. “I accepted his invitation to join him for a drink at the bar, but said I needed to go up to my suite and change from my performance dress. He joined me in the lift and said he would wait for me. I felt a little uneasy as he entered my suite, but beckoned him into the lounge and asked him to wait there while I changed,” Jennifer explained her ordeal.
She continued, “I entered my bedroom, closed the door and began to change. A few minutes later the door opened and he entered and without a word grabbed me and forced me onto the bed from behind. He overpowered me and painfully raped me. It must have been over in about 20 seconds although it felt like a lifetime.”
