Nigerian security personnel ambushed while escorting election results

Presidential and legislative electoral results are being collated across Nigerian states.
Two Nigerian security personnel, escorting election results from Ipokia in Ogun State, have been rushed to hospital after they were ambushed and shot.

Sunday’s ambush near the border of Benin came as Nigerians went to the polls on Saturday to elect legislative members to represent them in the National Assembly, the Premium Times reported Monday morning.

The election officials were on their way to Oronna Town Hall, where they were expected to deliver the local government‘s house of representative and senatorial election results.

Presidential and legislative electoral results are being collated across Nigerian states.

During the attack, a security officer and a driver were shot and were subsequently evacuated to hospital. No deaths were reported due to the heavy security presence.

Attempts by the media to get further details as to the nature of the attack and the exact extent of the injuries from the police were unsuccessful as at the time of publication.
