The City of Joburg has launched a new breathalyser.
It eliminates the need for additional blood tests.
The machine samples alcohol in the stomach ignoring fumes on the breath.
It also takes gender and age into account.
The device is tamper proof and prints five copies of the results on thermal paper which lasts 7 years.
Due to accuracy there is no need for a blood sample. Drunk and Driving cases can be heard quicker without the need to wait for a blood sample.
