Naledi Pandor urges South Africans stuck abroad to contact the department

International Relations Minister Naledi Pandor is urging South Africans abroad who need assistance to contact the department. She says the department is running a 24-hour command centre to help.

Thousands of South Africans are stuck abroad amid tight travel restrictions brought by the coronavirus outbreak. I do find that family members in South Africans have one person that is in contact with them. I ask them to ask and contact us.

“We found that with this command centre we have been able to register more people who require assistance…the centre is working. We have a better idea of who needs help and the kind of assistance we might provide,” said Pandor. She said plans to repatriate South Africans stranded abroad are being worked on.

Contact the command centre on 012 351 1574 or 012 351 1756 or email cicc1@dirco.gov.za or cicc2@dirco.gov.za.  Coronavirus Hotline Number: 0800 029 999 from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday
