When the department’s cars are stolen, that negatively impacts on us in services.”
Provincial health spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said: “Allegedly five men arrived at a hospital pretending to be ill. They overpowered the security guard and tied him up, making off with an Isuzu bakkie and a Toyota Corolla.

“Targeting clinics and hospitals is nothing but pure thuggery that has no place in our society. When the department’s cars are stolen, that negatively impacts on us in services.” Kupelo called on communities to work with the department and police to bust those who target health institutions. At the end of the day, criminals live among us.

“Anyone who might have information leading to the arrest of the suspects is urged to alert their nearest police station or call the department’s call centre on 0800 032 364. Their confidentiality is guaranteed,” said Kupelo.
