President Cyril Ramaphosa says the events that took place at a student protest outside Wits University are deeply disturbing. He has condemned the killing of Mthokozisi Ntumba during the protest on Wednesday.
Ramaphosa says the circumstances that led to the death of the 35-year old must be thoroughly investigated, and the law must take its course. He’s further affirmed the right to a peaceful protest.

Ramaphosa says that the government is working towards a sustainable solution to ensure young people have access to higher education.

An actress who got Zodwa Wabantu banned from Zimbabwe by the late president Robert Mugabe in 2017 on Wednesday night succumbed to injuries sustained in an attack by robbers in Bedfordview, Johannesburg.
Zimbabwean-born Anne Nhira, 38, had a cameo role in the soapie Zabalaza playing the part of an illegal Malawian immigrant working as a hairdresser. She also featured in the 2016 film Mutual Friends. Learn more
