Motorists warned to avoid Pretoria CBD

A number of streets have been closed following unrest in Tshwane. Foreign shops were looted on Wednesday following the violence.

The chaos is believed to be caused by the killing of a taxi driver. Transport services have been suspended.

Motorists are advised to avoid the CBD and use alternative routes. Metro Police officers and SAPS are deployed to the area.

The following roads have been closed:

Lilian Ngoyi between Pretorious and Boom street
Boom between Thabo Sehume and Sisulu Street
Struben between Thabo Sehume and Sisulu Street
Johannes Ramokoase between Thabo Sehume and Sisulu Street
Madiba between Thabo Sehume and Sisulu Street
Soutpansberg between Boom and Steve Biko Street
