Under no pressure of any kind, Morocco substitute Aziz Bouhaddouz put an unstoppable near post header past his own goalkeeper while attempting to defend a free-kick.
Morocco gifted Iran that winner long after their opponents had shut up shop and clearly settled for the draw. Both sides will be sitting in their dressing rooms in a state of shocked disbelief; Morocco wondering how they lost a game they dominated for long periods and Iran wondering how they won a game in which they were dominated for long periods.

Morocco defeated 1 – 0 by Iran. Iran won their first match at a World Cup finals since 1998 as Morocco substitute Aziz Bouhaddouz scored an own goal in injury time.
Bouhaddouz put the ball into his own net with a diving header in the 95th minute.
