Health Minister Phaahla urges awareness over monkeypox in SA

A fifth case of monkeypox has been detected in the country.
Health Minister Joe Phaahla is encouraging people with symptoms to report to their nearest healthcare facility
The patient had travelled to the Netherlands and Spain.
“We encourage South Africans to be aware that monkeypox is in our midst,” the minister said.
“We’ve not yet found it to be endemic. The cases which have been confirmed have been associated with some sort of travelling.
“Once someone has the symptoms people should get to the nearest facilities and be isolated.”
