Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss Supranational en route to Mzansi for Miss SA finals

The Miss South Africa Organisation is set to make history with reigning queens Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss Supranational coming to watch the Miss South Africa crowning on Saturday, 16 October.

Miss World 2020 Toni-Ann Singh from Jamaica, Miss Supranational 2021 Chanique Rabe from Namibia and Miss Universe 2021 Andrea Meza from Mexico will be present when Miss SA 2021 will be crowned at the Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town.

Toni-Ann said this will not be her first time in South Africa. She visited after she was crowned.

“I was invited by Chief Zwelivelile Mandla Mandela, Nelson Mandela’s eldest grandson, to celebrate his mother’s 70th birthday in Mvezo and donated 1 300 pairs of shoes as part of Beauty with a Purpose’s support of local schools and children. I also got to sing to her Etta James’ At Last, and speak about Beauty with a Purpose and its initiatives,” she said.

She will be accompanied by Julia Morley, the chairwoman and CEO of Miss World Organisation.

CEO of the Miss South Africa Organisation Stephanie Weil said they are thrilled to be hosting the reigning queens.

“We are determined to show the world that the Miss South Africa pageant embraces the spirit of ubuntu. We have three queens coming to this country to meet our own reigning queen Miss South Africa Shudufhadzo Musida – who will be competing on the Miss World stage in November,” said Stephanie.

“The world is opening up to both local and international tourists. South Africa is open for business again and we are delighted to be able to show its beauty to an international audience,” she continued.

The big night will be hosted by television personalities Anele Mdoda and Nico Panagio, while Miss Universe title holders 2018 winner Catriona Gray, her 2019 successor and our own Zozibini Tunzi will be backstage presenters.

The judges for this year’s pageants are Miss Universe 2021 Andrea Meza, Miss Universe 2015, TV personality, model and actress Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, former Miss South Africa title holders Basetsana Kumalo (1994) and Tamaryn Green (2018), actress Shannon Esra, vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Town Mamokgethi Phakeng and radio and TV presenter Dineo Ranaka.

The event will be screened live from 5pm on M-Net (DStv channel 101) and Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161). It will also be streamed for an international audience on
