#MetroFMAwards: Here are all the winners at Metro FM Awards 2024

All black, glitz, and glamour were the order of the day during the Metro FM Music Awards at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Saturday, 27 April.

The event saw the winners walk away with awards and R50 000 for each category. Kabza De Small, Mthunzi, and Young Stunna walked away with R150 000 for the Song of the Year and three more categories for their song, Imithandazo.

Amapiano stars were the centre of the show, bagging most of the awards. Lwa Ndlunkulu, who scooped Artist of the Year award, said: “I’d like to thank God, Big Zulu, Leeroy, and my fans.”

Other winners were Nontokozo Mkhize for Best Newcomer, Mthandazo Gatya for Best R&B, and Bongezile Mabandla scooped an award African Pop.

Oscar Mbo, who won Best Styled Artist award, said: “Thank you so much to everyone who support what we do. Style phambili umutu emuva (style forward people backwards).”

Lifetime achievement was awarded to Oskido. who performed a medley of different songs and took the audience back in the years with some of his old songs such as Zabalaza.

Oskido said after his performance: “It’s not about the fame. It’s not about how much money I make or how many cars I have. It’s about how many people I’ve gotten in the industry.”

He said that making stars goes on and on. “Legends never give up,” he said.

Boom Shaka, which also received a lifetime award, performed some of their classic hit songs, with the audience singing along.

The group’s member, Thembi Seete, said: “We’re here celebrating 30 years of music excellence and democracy. I miss Lebo and you guys miss Lebo as well. Do you feel her presence?”

Makhadzi walked away with Best Female Artist award. She said: “This award goes to all the female in the category I was competing with because we deserve this award.”

Ntokozo Mkhize gave a rendition while photos of fallen artists were displayed on the screen.
