Mayor Mluleki Ndobe spends another night behind bars. Ndobe appeared in the Umzimkhulu Magistrates Court alongside ex-cop Sibonelo Myeza (39), Mbulelo Mpofana (48) and municipal manager Zweliphansi Sikhosana (48) in connection with the murder of ANC councillor Sindiso Magaqa.

Harry Gwala District Municipality mayor, Mluleki Ndobe (44) will spend another day behind bars.

Ndobe and his co-accused also face two counts of attempted murder for the attack on ANC councillors Nontsikelelo Mafu and Jabu Mzizi.

Magistrate Riaz Essack postponed the case to Monday and Tuesday for a bail application. The suspects were arrested on Sunday morning and will remain in custody until Monday.

Meanwhile, provincial ANC spokeswoman Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu told Daily Sun the party had not discussed Ndobe’s arrest.

She called for the creation of courts that would deal with politically motivated killings.
