JOB REQUIREMENTS
BSc. or B.Eng (Analytical, Polymer, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering) from a recognized University
3 years’ experience with instrumental analyses (FTIR, GC, HPLC, DSC, etc)
Must be an Analytical thinker
Extreme attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure
8 years in related industry
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for managing the Analytical and Material Science sections of the laboratory to maximise productivity and efficiency of staff. Coaches, mentors and develops subordinate technical staff.
Utilising Analytical, Instrumental and Physical testing methodology to assist the Technical Service managers (TSM) to formulate new and/or improve existing products by establishing the compositional data, physical property performance as well as accelerated test data on ours and competitor products
Assist the formulating TSMs and the Process Chemist with the formulation and process optimisations and to trouble shoot and investigate processing anomalies to minimize rejects and improve consistency.
Responsible for arranging national and international accreditation testing and approval of our products and maintenance thereof. (e.g. SANS, Lloyds, UL)
Utilising Analytical, Instrumental and Physical testing methodology to assist the Operations, QHSE, Procurement and Sales teams to conduct customer complaint and root cause investigations (RCI) and to recommend corrective actions.
Responsible for maintaining and updating the register of approved and/or alternate raw materials and suppliers.
Responsible for effluent testing functions.
Asists with the training of plant personnel.
