The Premier League arms race continues, with Manchester United close to announcing Mason Mount from Chelsea, Declan Rice moving from West Ham to Arsenal and Liverpool and Chelsea chasing new deals
Two significant transfers are close to completion in the Premier League: Declan Rice’s much-anticipated move from West Ham to Arsenal and Mason Mount’s switch to Manchester United from Chelsea.
Rice has cut short his holiday to complete a medical with Arsenal, who are ready to pay £105million for the England midfielder. Meanwhile, Manchester United are close to signing Mount, who was spotted at their Carrington training ground on Monday ahead of a £60m move.
Elsewhere there is plenty going on too. Liverpool don’t appear to be slowing down after signing Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig in a £60m deal on Sunday. They are reportedly still keen on signing another midfielder.
Chelsea have been busy selling players and now, with Mauricio Pochettino in place, they are ready to bring in new players. And there are lots of deals to keep an eye on at other clubs too.
Mason Mount has confirmed he has left Chelsea for Manchester United as Erik ten Hag finally gets his first summer arrival over the line.
In a message on his Instagram account, Mount explained his decision to leave the Blues. “Hi Chelsea fans,” he said. “Given the speculation over the last six months, this may not come as a surprise to you.
“But it doesn’t make it any easier to tell you that I’ve made the decision to leave Chelsea. I felt you deserve more than just a written statement so I wanted to tell you directly how grateful I’ve been for all of your support over the last 18 years. I know some of you won’t be happy with my decision, but it’s what’s right for me at this moment in my career
